Plan B For Utopia

Programmazione IN

Focus Scotland

Plan B for Utopia is a new full length work by Dundee based choreographer Joan Clevillé, exploring the role of hope, imagination and struggle in our personal and collective lives.

The work is a fresh and original combination of dance, theatre and storytelling, featuring two versatile and charismatic performers. Breaking the fourth wall (and with a good dose of humour!), the work creates an intimate space for play and reflection where audience and performers can ‘meet’ in a common endeavor to re-imagine the world. The performance is accessible to a wide range of audiences and particularly suitable for young adults.

Featuring music by Judy Garland, John Lennon and Louis Armstrong among others, the soundtrack of the work shows how the idea of utopia is embed- ded in our everyday lives and popular culture.

Joan Clevillé is an independent choreographer based in Scotland. He has worked as a dancer and rehearsal director for twelve years in companies across Europe. He started his journey as a choreographer in 2006, and since then his works have been presented in the UK, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan. He has created works for choreographic platforms at the Graz Opera (Austria) and Scottish Dance Theatre, as well as receiving commissions from Thomas Noone Dance (Barcelona), Café Fuer- te (Austria), and Institut del Teatre (Barcelona) amongst others. Joan has been an Associate Artist at Scottish School of Contemporary Dance since 2014.
