New Circus Production in Italy
CASTING FOR INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ARTIST
Casting subject
Corpi & Visioni is an important project for promoting and improving new Circus in Italy. With Festival Mirabilia, it launches a Call for International circus artists. Corpi & Visioni and Festival Mirabilia, with A.T.E.R. have selected Francesca Pennini and for the choreography and direction.
The new creation will be produced by the Italian Dance Company CollettivO CineticO and others from the Italian Region Emilia Romagna and supported by the Italian National Theatre ERT – Emilia Romagna Teatro.
Timing
The application mail has to be sent by 2 June 2016 (time of the mail) to the address below and with all the information and file attached as required. The panel, composed by Gigi Cristoforetti, Fabrizio Gavosto e Francesca Pennini, will shortlist the first selection and all artists will be informed by the 12th of June. Selected artists are invited to participate during the Festival Mirabilia at the first live selection on the 4th and the 5th in Savigliano, (CN), at the Ala Polifunzionale di Piazza del Popolo. They will be asked to be available for both days. Mirabilia would be able to support a plain cot in a 10place tent for the night of the 4th.
Other expenses will NOT be refund for this first selections, but the artists will be included in a discount system by the Festival Mirabilia for tickets for shows.
Approved operators present in Mirabilia will be authorised to watch this live selection.
The results will be at the incontestable discretion of the panel.
The panel will select 8-12 people and inform them by 20th of July 2016.
Availability requested is binding:
• First residency, definitive selection, at Asioli Theatre in Correggio (RE), Italy. 3 days in between 25th September and 2nd of October 2016. In that occasion the cast will be eventually defined (in between 4 and 8 performers). For this residency, artists will be refund for per diem, accommodation and travel costs (for a maximum of 150€)
• Under contract, the production will take 40-50 days. It is already defined from 9th to 16th of October again in Correggio. Other days will be scheduled later, in between November and December.
The show will premier on the 30th in Teatro delle Passioni, in Modena.
Selection criteria
The main technique is Chinese Pole.
The second or alternative technique is tight wire. Accessory ones could be Roue Cyr and Acrobatics, then all the others.
An interesting complementary skill will be dance work experiences or training.
Applicants will need to send a short bio, according to these criteria, specifying in it the training European Cirque Schools they attended and work experiences.
Link at video and a picture during training, rehearsal or show will be extremely helpful for the first selection.
