Copyleft is a multiform juggled project in the public space interacting with live music.
The group draws curves in the space and creates pathways of varying lengths, juggled dialogs. All of the juggler/dancers are subjected to the same game rules : “full body”, “open eyes”, “in and out”, “in curves”, “silences”, “shorts, middle and long travels” ; these rules/instructions are the vocabulary through which they communicate.
Eight extraordinary jugglers who make of their art of the extraordinary something commonplace in a banal public space transformed into an extraordinary space by their juggling prowesses. 4 well renowed local musicians selected in collaboration with Baravalle Musical Institut, to create in partnership with Vignale Monferrato Festival something unique and innovative.
Born in 1976 in Argentina, Nicanor de Elia is a circus artist, choreographer and performer. In 2003, he joined Le Lido, Toulouse’s professional circus school, specializing in juggling. In 2006, Nicanor and four other jugglers who trained at Le Lido founded G. Bistaki, a contemporary circus company, and began juggling with unusual objects such as roof tiles or handbags. In 2010 he founded Garage29, a performing arts lab space in Brussels. His interest for circus and dance lead him to stage production. For 2018, Nicanor is preparing « Juventud », inspired by F.T. Marinetti’s Manifesto of Futurism. It will feature six young jugglers trained at ESAC and LIDO and will treat of youth’s love of speed and danger, as will Juventud’s street extension, Copyleft, which is its choreographic kernel and all-terrain version.
